The goal of Sahaja Yoga meditation is to give everyone the tools they need to gain true self-knowledge and spiritual growth, so it is not surprising that we also grow in terms of our understanding and love for the beauty of a more cultured and civilised world.

Spiritual teachings passed down since dawn of human civilisation have shown again and again that true spirituality involves much more than mere ritual, and so we should not be surprised to find behaviour, art and overall lifestyle choices at the centre of any authentic yoga practice. In short - our whole life is enriched by the practice of meditation.

The core precepts of all true yoga practices have emphasised the fact that we can only reach our spiritual goals if we are prepared to accept the inevitable change that comes from our improved self knowledge. As we practice Sahaja Yoga meditation and strive for spiritual growth, we develop a greater sense of what is positive for us, and what causes us harm.

It is for this reason that many people who practice Sahaja Yoga mediation find that they no longer want to smoke cigerattes or drink alchohol. There is no rule that we must give these things up, but our increased sensitivity leads us to removing the intake of harmful substances from our life. However, you will never find that we judge or even encourage people to give up anything from their lifestyle - people must follow what they feel is right for them, and it would be artificial to do otherwise.

These changes can be profound or trivial, but they affect every part of our human makeup. So we can expect to perceive our world in a different way, as well as desire different outcomes and make different choices for our long term well-being.

It is the desire for self-improvement that forces us to make these changes and adapt ourselves to a richer and more satisfying way of life. We are no longer content to follow the herd, simply because everyone else does. Instead we allow our spiritual needs to drive our lifestyles, enhance our creativity and power our decisions, and by doing this we obtain real and significant benefits in all aspects of our lives and personality.
